The brackets for the 00-04 Excursion are different than the 05-07 X/SD fogs. They are the same as the 99-04 SD fogs. The 2005 X shares the same bracket with the 05-07 trucks. Which one did you buy? Got a link?
These were inexpensive - I had not located any info as to a difference so far - I am still looking at the wiring harness to see if any of it supports fog lights. The headlight switch does not....
At least I have my M6 bolts when I get the bracket set that fits....

If you have the 05 front end you need the 05-07 fog lights. They earlier ones will not fit at all.
OG, I don't think his truck is wired for them in the first place from what I just read in his response. He will need the wiring harness, fuses, relays and such...and the correct headlight switch.
OG, As far as the wiring harness, I'm not seeing anything to plug into the lights unless there is a pigtail in the engine compartment to plug into. I did see the upfitter pigtail in the engine bay, but the dash doesn't look like it is set up for the switches without major cutting. The headlight switch does not have the pull out function for the lights. I didn't pull the switch assembly to see if the foglight wiring is there.....
I'll see if I can find a picture of one of the harness and look at the connector in case I have the other end prewired.
yes if his truck didnt come with the foglights hooked up an donly had the empty housings he wont have the wires nor the connections in the fuse/relay box located in the hood it wil look like the slots are there but no contacts or wiring its very annoying but rather then looking for factory im just gonna buy a set of LED fog lights off amazon and a wireing kit for accecory lights that comes with everything needed to hook up the lights properly with relays fuses and a toggle switch much easier then hunting down factory stuff that be more costly
I ordered my 2005 XLT new, and foglights were not available from the factory on an XLT. As others have mentioned, the OP needs a later set of foglights. There was no provision to simply plug them in.
When mine was new, I ordered an accessory kit from Ford to put foglights in. It had the wiring, relay, switch, etc. It didn't use the factory headlight switch but a foglight switch that needed to be mounted. I used a different switch and mounted in the empty spot on the dash next to the power point.. I also had to get a set of 2005 foglights as the brackets were different in the earlier rigs. Ford didn't offer an updated kit for 2005.
I downloaded the latest LMC online catalog. Page 6 shows replacement bumpers. This was the best comparison that I've seen, shows the difference in the openings on the front.
All of the information that everyone supplied has clarified the differences on the 2005 model. I'll consider my first fog light order as part of my tuition on this learning curve! I want to add a front brush guard, most likely I will order the right one the first time.
A 55 watt set of lights for the 2005 are on the way, along with a complete aftermarket wiring harness , relays and switch since the wiring in the previous years is not present on the 2005..... thanks to all! The next install attempt should go much better!
