I have a 95 f150 with straight 6. Im running 33's with stock 3.55 rear end and I need more gear. If I go to say a 4.56 rear how much will it affect the gas millage its allready 11mpg. any in sight will be help full Thanks
Hi
I would go with 4.10 gears, from my experiences. Also definitely go with a limited slip diff too. If you don't youll regret it. After the first time I put one in, I've had to get one for every truck I've had since. Just my advice
I would go with a 4.56 ratio to motivate the tires especially with a 6 cylinder. I had a 4.10 with 31s and i have a 302 and it was perfect power every where. Then i put 33s and lost the power i loved especially in the higher gears. I will soon be switching to 4.56 myself as soon as i get cash. i miss the extra power.
With 33" tires, 4.10 gears will get you back to where you were with the stock 29" tires and 3.55s. If you want more gear, you need to look at 4.33 or 4.56
The only reason for going with a 4.56 ratio would be if you do lots of heavy towing or, if you plan on going to 36 inch tires or bigger.
The 4.10's once they break in are a perfect fit There will be some shock at the higher RPM's but this wears off as well. I have towed a 14foot whaler up hills and at highway speeds with no problem and off road they are great.
Defintely put in a locker or "limited grip" I opted for the TrueTrac. So far so good. I not sure if the Electric TrueTrac is out for the 8.8 but it might be something to look into.
