This is for those of you who have owned both. I have a 2012 F350 with a gas motor. It is a STELLAR Truck, but it rides like a chuck wagon when empty. Going through the Poconos on the mountain highways, it is a white knuckle event at highway speeds on those fairly rough roads.
Have there been any changes in the 2017+_ Super duty suspension that would make that a little better? I am really thinking of trading my gas F350 Lariat, in on a new Diesel F250. Would that alone help the situation? I would only get the FX4 package (need that locking rear) and no other heavy duty spring packages.
I looked at the F150, but really want a diesel, your thoughts are appreciated.
you should be able to get the locking diff without the fx4 package, I was able to, the fx4 Rancho Branded shocks have been causing issues with many on here, they tend to start leaking real quick. Even my non rancho factory shocks started to leak in 4k miles. If you need the skid plates get the FX4 but be ready to change shocks soon. If you dont need the skid plates, then its not worth it imho.
This seems to be a common problem with leaf spring suspensions employing lift blocks. The rear axle needs radius-rods or low-profile ladder bars to keep it in a controlled arc and eliminate that "bouncing around" feeling some of you mentioned. I installed them on both of my Excursions and they smoothed out the ride remendously. Looking into getting a set for my 2017 F250.
