I posted this in the a/c forum also but i have not yet had any responses. i have a 98 f150 4.6 v8, when i bought the truck about a year ago i noticed that on the fan speed, the #1 and #2 position blew the same. now the #1 #2 and #3 positions all blow the same, only and the highest level it will blow out enough to feel it. is this a switch problem. also when at an idle when i turn my a/c on my RPM's drop from about 600 to 400 then back to 600 real quick, i have never noticed that before. has anyone had this problem? or any suggestions?
Where would the IAC and the resistor be located? would the resistor have to be bought at a Ford dealership? i am going to work on it this weekend, too much rain in south texas right now. and also to hot for no a/c. i hate these problems, id rather work on something like suspensions or engines but then again a a/c problem is better than and engine problem. thanks for the help yall
The IAC is located on the top of the throttlebody. It has a plug(2 wires) and is held on by 2 bolts.
I'm not exactly sure on the resistor, but they are usually in the ductwork under the dash near the blower motor. But like I said, I'm not positive on these newer ones.

well, i took the IAC off the other day and cleaned it out with card cleaner, wasn't at all that dirty, also ran a test on it with a ohmmeter and it checked out ok, between 6 and 13 ohms (so said the chiltons repair book) it idles better now when i turn my a/c on and off. i noticed when i shut my engine off my EGR valve silonoid rattles and makes noises, i took it off and ran a test on it, now i have to replace it. also my truck has a hard time starting sometimes, it will start then die, like i am out of gas, but it will start if i floor it. i am going to take it down and have the codes read on it to see if anything shows up. any ideas?
