ok heres the deal, my 1988 5.0l bronco's brake light is constantly one. fluid is fine and there are no leaks in teh lines, ive checked them twice. im kinda thinkin that the sensor for the fluid level might be bad. im not sure just my thoughts.
my alignment is weird. the two front tires will look fine at one point, when i park it. but then after driving it, ill look at the tires and theyll will be point inward so that its riding on the inside of my tires and i can see where the tires have worn down some. and sometimes the tires will be pointed outward. most of the time its pointed inward. not sure what to do help me out. thanks, david
For your brake light, have you checked your park brake switch? if park brake is on it will turn light on also.
as for the wheels, sound like something loose or worn. Can you jack it up and move the wheels that way by hand?
Your front end does sound to be out of line a little , due to the fact that you may have added more weight to the front end, Such as a bumper winch combo or something. The springs may even be sagging a little , as far as the looks it is hard to tell by looking at the front end, all this is due to the TTb axels. back the truck up a few feet stop and look at the axels they may really look like they are running on the inside edge of the tires, pull back forward and they should stand back up. again due to the TTB axel design.
I agree with Stepman...check your parking brake switch...the brake light doesnt really check your fluid level, just how far the pedal goes down. As for your front wheels, jack up the front end and see if you can move the wheel top to bottom.....if you can, change out your ball joints. Good luck!
Connector for the brake fluid? HMMMMMM I knew I was missing something! Is that what those extra wires are for? And I was using them to hold my fender on!
hey, well ill have my parkin brake on and the light is lit up rather bright, but ill let the break off and the light dims some. and another thing, whats TTB? and yeh my tires do look like they are ridin on the inside of the tire. i havnt added any weight to my truck so maybe its just saggin. but the thing that baffles me is that the align ment will change. one time straight, the next ridin on the inside of the tire. and then even look like its ridin on the outside of the tire. its weird. appreciate the feedback. david
Ball joints.....mine was doing the same exact thing until last weekend...new ball joints went in and got a new alignment...now its on auto pilot and ai dont need to steer...at least not on the straight parts of the road.
Ball joints are about $30 a piece (top & bottom) and they're a pain to replace. Not take-it-to-a-shop pain, but plan on a weekend to do it if you never have before.
It also requires some special tools, like a locknut spanner wrench, snap ring pliers, and a ball joint press (rent the press from AZ for free).
But it's good experience, and I would recommend doing it yourself.
Andym has hit it really close. Guess it depends on where you live as to the price of the parts. I paid $50 each side for uppers and lowers. The spanner wrench, (which looks like a large socket), was about 20 bucks and the snap ring pliers were 10. As for the ball joint press and separator, (sp), they were rentals from Autozone and didnt cost anything in the end. You pay full price for em then get a full refund when you are done. It took me about half a day in my driveway and it was a first for me. Not a bad job to do. Do a search for my user name in this forum about rotors. In there someone gave me a link that had the instructions with pictures and it was dead on. I had a couple more parts than what it showed but I guess you can only take so many pics while working.
Good Luck!
