Hey Gang;
The thumb drive in my truck doesn't seem to want to cooperate. I call myself going through the menu, turning off the truck radio to try and reset...all to no avail. Any ideas?...thanks.
I found out after buying a large storage thumb drive (32gb), that the system won't work with it. But it does seem to be fine with my small drive (12gb).
Hope it helps some.
Make sure that the thumb drive is formated as FAT32 file system (Right click on the drive and click properties.. see image below). If not, reformat as FAT32 then add you rmusic back on it. Mine is a 16 GB so I can't comment of 32 will work.
Did you hit the sync voice activation button and say "USB"? Sometimes my AUX button doesn't detect the USB drive so I have to use that method. Could also check that the connection on the back hasn't come loose but only a last resort.
In my 2013 I'm using a 32 gb thumb drive. Used the same drive in my 2010 and it worked fine there too. Wonder why something as small as a 16 won't work.
Anywho, very rarely, maybe once per yr, I think there's some sort of goofy update check or something that happens and the usb simply doesn't get recognized for a day or two. Biggest thing I have to remember- with our Synch/Windoze system we're dealing with what equates to a 1982 Tandy Radio Shack computer. I always unplug the thumb drive and give it a couple of days, then plug back in and don't expect to work for a couple more. This process has always worked and eventually the TRS-80 catches up and everything is fine.
The other thing I did was to investigate the usb2 port, under the tray on the dash. I realized very quickly that the dash usb port wasn't going to last long if I kept smashing the thumb drive every time I lifted my coffee mug out of the holder.

SanDisk makes a nice flush-mount to prevent that problem. I have a similar drive myself:
I use a short thumb drive myself and I have to watch it when I put my phone in the well below it. I have the flow through console so the cups holders are not in the way. BTW, it is a 16 GB drive and it did not recognize it the last time that I had it out for a day.
