Morning Ian. It was a good weekend overall. I ended up assisting another unit all weekend by helping to man the cannon. We fired 20 rounds from it all weekend. I personally touched off 7 of those rounds in the afternoon battle on saturday. After our 7th round we all died. Picked off by His Majesties navy.

Cool Shaun.
What do you load it with?

A real cannon ball or a blank of some sorts?
Maybe a Bigmac and fries lol

It is loaded with a blank round Ian. It is a piece of foil with about a half pound of black powder in it that is formed so it will go right into the barrel on the cannon. Then rammed down and then a vent ***** is used to prime it and a quill is placed in the vent so as to fire the charge. After everything was over sunday I also assisted them with getting the cannon from the bottom of the hill back up to the top.

See there is why you lost and died....the cannon should have been at the top of the hill for the high ground advantage lol

Well it was placed in a position to allow fire where it was needed. And do to modern liabilities we had to place it in the spot it was in because of houses across the water from us. And lets face it it is fun to be able to watch from a perspective the public does not get to see.

But you are right in that you would want some artillery on the high ground.

Good morning BC

Its a bit under 0 with a light dusting of snow which is enough to keep me off the ladder today so the last of the camera system removal is going to have to wait until Thursday. I need to fix and open one of my garage doors so that I can get the parts cab out of the back of the truck and into the shop so thats todays job.

I think it would be a lot of fun to shoot off a black powder cannon, it sure would spice up the neighborhood.

it certainly does Perry. In fact the group I was helping out just bought a new tube and will be selling the old one. The old one we were using this weekend is a 1 pounder. So it is a small cannon. The new one is a 6 pounder.
