Fuel Tank Replacement

I'm grasping for straws right now.
A friend of mine just called and told me that his gas tank is gushing all over his exhaust. He has a new tank to replace it but it is too late for us to get a manual. He has an 92 F150 Flare Side. He told me that this is one of the rare occasions where the gas tank is located in a different place than most other models. We need to know if there is anything special we have to do in order to drop the tank. For instance, electronics connections we may need to remove, or other connections that he may not have considered. He knows it is quite different from his older Bronco and he asked me to find out waht I can. We have to try to get this tank in tonight or he will have to call off work tomorrow. He cannot afford to call off work. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

Fuel Tank Replacement

You’re in luck I just dropped my tank 2 weeks ago. It should come strait down unless he has a receiver hitch than it may be difficult but it should still come out one you get the tank down just take a plastic mallet with something that will not create sparks than turn the ring from around the sender than just take the fuel pump out it will take some wrestling around to get it out there is one electrical connection pry it off with a screwdriver that’s it oh and there is some sort of line at the top of the tank I think its the return line take it out with the gasket around it than when it out tank the gasket off the return thing and just put the gasket in than in stall the return line if you don’t you will not get the line in and it will leak also make sure you get the electrical connection back on very tight push on it really hard.
