What to do about UNACCEPTABLE fuel mileage?

I'll toss my numbers in the ring for gits and shiggles:
2017 F250 KR CCSB 3.55 gear & 20" wheels ... just turned over 600 miles today (I've had it a whole 3 weeks today). Haven't spent more than a couple 12 mile jaunts on the interstate (65MPH), and have split the miles between city and "country highways" (55MPH roads with infrequent traffic lights). I could tell a regen occurred at about 525 miles because I watched the MPG display dropping a bit. The display for lifetime (as short as it is) average says 18.8 MPG. Looking forward to improvement once I have ~10K miles on it.
I traded in my 2010 F150 FX4 with 5.4L V8 and its lifetime average was 14.97 MPG over 5-1/2 years (calculated). Admittedly, I'm waiting awhile before trusting the F250's numbers. The first fill-up indicated the display was optimistic by about 1.2 MPG over the calculated value.
PS to pennsylvaniabo - My stomping grounds are just south of you in Halfway, MD. I played on the construction equipment when they first built the I-81/I-70 interchange.

I got 18.09 mpg today over 398 Miles calculated manually at the pump. Computer read 17.7 mpg for the day. 90% highway at 70 mph and 10% stop and go city.
4,000 miles on the truck. 20 inch stock Michelin’s running 5w40 oil. Slight headwind first 200 Miles. Slight side wind last 200 Miles.
I think that performance is pretty good.

2017 F250 4x4 crew cab 6.7 all stock here. Mine is sucking pretty bad as well. Towed about 220 miles and miles to empty was 5. Display said 9.2 mpg math at fill up said 7.8mpg. Same trip towing same camper using my 05 excursion 4x4 6.0 diesel 14.7. Set a new trip for the fuel economy display after that trip and over the next full tank or says 16.4. 15.8 by math at fill up. Same driving I'm my 05 F250 crew cab 4x4 6.0 would usually get me about 17.5.

F350 CCLB 6.7 3.55 with 400 miles. 90% city driving I'm about 12MPG. Not great but...
I have noticed the truck drags a decent amount when I let off the pedal at slow speeds. It feels kinda like it's in Tow/Haul mode (it's not that bad) or it's one gear to low. My 2008 6.4 F350 will coast with virtually no drag when I let off the pedal at 20mph.
Anyone else notice this on theirs? Certainly can't help the mileage as I have to stay on the pedal more than I normally would, on my 2008 anyway.

Ok, I'm going to throw this out there. I had a 2011 F250 that got 19-20 MPG with the DPF and 20-22 MPG without the DPF. That is running 69-72 MPH. Now I have a 2017 F350 SRW. Same basic truck as far as rear ratio and set up. The 2017 is getting 15.9 at best in the same exact conditions. Using Forscan I can now monitor the DFP status and the truck is going into regen every 150 miles or so. It regened 3 times on one tank of fuel. I run Diesel Kleen or Stanadyne in every tank of fuel.
I was wondering if the crankcase vent filter may have something to do with it. The video on here says something towards the end about a TSB for the filter. If it is letting oil into the intake system and the truck is burning it and clogging the DFP quicker then it would regen more often. We would never see the blue smoke due to the DPF catching it. Or if the engine is burning oil past the rings or such. We may never see that because of the fuel added to the oil during regen. I use Schafers 5W40 synthetic oil so that shouldn't be a issue either.
What are your thoughts?

For reference my 6.2 4x4 CCSB with 3.73 gears and 275/65/R18 tires gets 15-15.5 running 70mph on the hwy with no traffic. Add in some decent traffic (more drafting) and it gets better.
