I got the truck repositioned in my garage so I can get started on the crown Vic swap. Got the front clip off last night. Going to take some measurements and notes. Weld a temporary stay on the front of the frame and starts removing the old suspension.

Given the great skills demonstrated thus far, I am very eager to get the details on how you approach this. I would imagine that you'll take special pains to maintain the wheel center line as well as assure yourself that these new wheels can be properly aligned.
Although a good number of CV swaps have been documented here and elsewhere, I am still unclear as to the best way to mount the trailing link bracket (fab a new one or mod the old one) and what should be done with the old radius arm bracket and crossmember (just remove or also try to dupe its frame stiffening function).

Thank you sir, I will take lots of pictures and be as detailed as possible.

I finally got past all the dirty work of torching off old suspension and rivets. Rolled the truck and CV suspension outside for a bath. Now the fun can begin. Mocking up the crown Vic suspension.

love this build it is unique in the fact that it is a shlong bed. i had to notice that the original light green of the engine compartment is the color of my truck. just found this interesting. is the dark green original?

It looks like some parts of the IFS have been replaced with new parts (e.g springs) but what isn't evident is whether and how different they might be from stock. What was stock (police/taxi model or passenger car) and how do these new springs differ from what they replaced? Any other new parts?

Interesting how you built up the thickness of the frame top rail. This is markedly different from what others have done in this area. Do the spacer tubes go through the frame or are they butt welded to the inner frame walls? Did they come from the donor vehicle, Ford parts or were they fabricated?

I'm keen to learn the thinking behind your approach, especially where it differs from what others have done. There's always more than one good way to skin a cat.

The tubes go all the way through the top of the frame but not through the bottom. The plate on top is a little different but I figured it would help with strength. I will also box the inside of the frame as well. I'll take more detailed pics of the he tube and plates.
