I'm new here. Just bought a 2010 E150 and the bumper is crunched, please see photo. What's my best way to go here? I like the step bumper, but new ones are so expensive. Anyone ever have one of these straightened without rechroming it? Can anyone recommend a good source for a good used one or??? What I'd really like to do, is to get one with the parking sensors in it. Anyone know of a good shop in So, CA that does that kind of work?
I'm in Orange County, CA. Many thanks for any help.
Looks like Rock Auto has them ranging from $200 (unpainted, no chrome) on up to $900ish for new OEM with sensors. I don't know what it takes to get sensors wired in. You will have to buy or re-use the existing step pads on some replacement bumpers--your pads look OK. There is a chrome generic one for $211 that has diamond plate chrome on the top.
Over 30 years of owning big vans, I have had to buy 4 new step bumpers (3 which were crunched while my van was stopped...)
Chrome on the generic cheapies may pit sooner than factory chrome (I had a generic step bumper on an old GMC van) but if you keep it waxed that should slow it down. Rockauto.com is the website
