Got a farm truck question for you guys. I have a 1970ish Ford F700 Grain truck, with the 361 motor. Last fall, I was leaving to take it out to the field, and I hit a bump in the driveway, and the motor died. We have not been able to get any semblance of any electrical power anywhere on it. No lights, no will to start or anything. Current battery on it is a 675/850. There are no visibly loose wires, or any that are loose to the touch. Do we need to try a different battery or does the alternator possibly need replaced?
Motor was rebuilt after a small engine fire late last summer. Any help would be appreciated!
Start with the basics and then move to fuel...but without lights etc ..its electrical
Ok
Check ground.. ground to batt.. ground to frame.. ground to engine.. make sure all are present and have good clean contact
Check battery and voltage.. use a voltage meter or get it checked for free at your auto parts supply
A dead alternator wont prevent the motor from turning over.. and you werent clear.. does it turn over and not start or is everything dead dead
With an engine fire I am immediately suspicious of wiring faults... getting it hot enough can cause wires to become brittle and break even if not obvious
Check master fuse ..fusible link.. check voltage regulator
It has to be one of the above if its a dead dead situation
