Looking at buying a new 6.0. Have a 01 F-150 CC with the 5.4 4WD and 3.73 gears. 6.0 will have 3.73 gears as well. Which one is quicker not towing of course? Test drove it and the only thing I didn't like is the nasty turbo lag. Have also driven a 03 HO cummins and there is no lag. Was the one I drove not normal or the fords just have the lag. Once the rpm's got up I was real impressed. It was a 04. Which is faster to 60 and 1/4 mile? Will wait to buy until they have big rebates 3000+. Thanks Kurtis
not real sure on the numbers which truck is faster but I find that interesting about the dodge. I personally drive a new 6.0 and love it but I havent driven a dodge lately. I have always admired the cummins engines and think there pretty bulletproof. When I purchased mine a dodge wasn't even in consideration. I regret not driving one now. although i havent had any problems with my truck, i would still love to know how the dodges run.
I would put my 6.0 up against a dog or a duraless any time.
0 to 60 in half a breath, 380 hp at the wheels 800 lbs plus of torque and the greatest ride since I built my Malibu with a 434hp small block.
I have driven the dogs and they are not as quick as last year.
Well anyway, thats my opinion.
I had a 01 F-150 SC 4x4 Lrt with the 5.4L mod'ed out just short of a supercharger. I test drove the Dodge also before going with my F-350. I too thought the Dodge was a little more responsive but the power band is not there like the 6.0L. Also, my F-350 seems to be getting better as I rack up more mileage. Thinking back, I only remember the impression of turbo lag when I test drove my truck the first time.
Aside from that, interior room was a big issue. In my opinion, Dodge just put four doors on an extended cab truck. HP and Torque is less with a HO Cummins as compared to the 6.0L. There were also a lot of little quality things I've grown to expect with the Fords that Dodge didn't have.
A true testiment of Ford's hold in the world of Super Duties is what I see on the highways in my area. I took my 5th wheel trailer out on a camping trip from New Jersey to Virginia on Labor Day weekend and I swear that 9 out of 10 trucks towing campers, boats, car carriages, etc. were Ford. My wife and I made a game of it because she thought I was full of it. I won. You might pay more but you surely get more. Just my opinion
Can u tell me what kind of performane components u are using to produce 380 horses and also 800lbs of torque,Thanks

All turbos have a lag. Lag is a relative thing. I am sure it is more noticable on new ones part because it is not broke in and part because we are not used to it yet. I do know the 6.0 is impressive.
My 01 dmax had no noticeable turbo lag but redline was only 3250. Our Subaru WRX has a LOT of turbo lag. Kicks in hard around 3200rpm but it revs out to 7.5k. I haven't driven my 6.0 Ex enough to know if it has any turbo lag. I didn't notice any in the 100 or so miles I drove it before I broke my hip, though.
The dmax was faster than most gasser trucks so I assume the 6.0 will be too, once it's broken in (15-20k miles, if it's like the dmax). The GM trucks with the 8.1l Vortec are some pretty quick stock trucks, though.
I purchased a 97 7.3l PSD new in 1997 which I only put about 50,000 miles on before selling and loved it (never had a problem)...I changed to a new 2001 Dodge 1500 4x4 gasser in late 2000....(never had a problem with it either but only had it for 21,000 miles cause I missed my diesel...lol)....In september of 2002 I decided to replace it with another diesel and purchased a 2003 Dodge 2500 w/ the Cummins. It drove ok but I never liked it when compared to the 97 PSD I had. Just didn't "feel" right and even though it pulled everything I would pull (which is not much) it seemed to drive more like a car then a truck to me. Now to the problems: At about 8000 miles I received a recall notice from Dodge to take the truck in and have the fan clutch "re-torqed" because some of them were coming of of the engines. I took it in and they serviced it at which time I was told that they had a few of them come in for the recalls almost completely off the engines. I figured that would solve the problem but at 10,000 miles I was leaving work and "something" happened (which I assume had to do with the recall stuff...but could not prove it since I have no real knowledge about it all) where something came off the front of the engine and put the belt in a bind which in turn completely "ripped" everything off the front of my engine (pulley's, fans, etc...)...when I got it towed into the dealership they tried to tell me they had to keep it a month because all of the parts were backordered all over the US...(hmmm..that kinda told me there must be a problem with others out there...I asked them that and they never gave me an answer)...They had refused to pay for my rental car so I was already alittle pissed off at them and the thought of needing to pay an additional 3 weeks for the rental made me even more pissed.....So after threatening to get an attorney and bothering them everyday they finally found a way to get all of the parts I needed (each from a different location in different states) and returned my truck to me. They still refused to give me the money I had spent on the rental (about $280) so due to the fact that I changed employers in the last year and make alot more money now I went down and talked to Ford about trading it in on a new 2003 F250 6.0l PSD crew cab on sept 18th. They found a way to get me both the 0% financing and the $2500 rebate and also added $500 to the rebate they called a "repeat customer" discount. My truck note came down about $100/month...and I got back into a Ford which I already love more then the Dodge I got rid of.....I'm not going to say Cummins is not a good engine because other then the problem with the front of the engine falling apart I never had another problem....but...I can say I had both an 03 Dodge and now a 03 6.0l PSD and as far as speed goes my opinion is that the 6.0l PSD blows away the Dodge....

Try driving another one. I've driven 2- 6.0's and neither had much "turbo-lag". I think they will either run even with or beat my V10 when empty. Both were strong runners. Some guys have 6.0's (I've read the complaints) and say they have no low end acceleration. The 2- 6.0's I drove didn't have that problem.
I've also driven 3-7.3's (2 stockers, and one with a Banks set-up) The stockers were acceleration dogs (empty-not towing). The Banks was great and runs similar to the new 6.0, maybe even a tad stronger.
Either way, I'd wait a little longer until they get these "bugs" worked out
My dealer showed me a video of the Ford, Dodge & Chevy in a drag race and a pull off with 10.000 lb trailer and Ford was ahead of both. Of course Ford did make the video, however I did see almost the same show on the speed channel with the same results. I have many F 150s and did all the mods (headers, exhaust, intakes and air cleaner and chips and my 6.0 would eat my F150's for lunch hands down no contest!
As for the Question at hand I believe stock to stock. I test drove all 3 before I made my purchase and from what I could tell the Ford was a touch quicker then the other 2. Also seemed to have the most turbo lag also. No doubt a nice truck though.
