1996 7.3 PSD knocking mostly when cold
Hey guys I just recently bought a 2nd Powerstroke. It's a 1996 F-350 with the 7.3. It has 327k miles on it. It doesn't run right and I can't pinpoint why other than assuming it's injector(s). It sounds absolutely nothing like my 1997 7.3. The guy I bought it from told me when you cold start it until it all warms up it has a sticky injector and the knock goes away, but it still doesn't sound right when warm. It drives fine but seems to also lack power. My 1997 has 284k miles and runs like a dream and has amazing power. I just can't pin point why it runs like **** and knocks especially when cold. I have read that it could just be low oil, it needs oil which I'm going to add after work today and see what happens but I'm not gonna have my hopes up that it's gonna fix it just like that. Maybe some fuel treatment for a few tanks to possibly clean the injectors out a bit? I'm not sure what to do

Before you add oil, make sure it is actually low lol...
You could take the valve covers off and watch the injectors fire to see if there is any one squirting more or less oil than the others while idling.
