I recently purchased a Ford F-150 2WD with the 460 V-8, C6 AT, and trailer towing package. The original carb, a Holley 4180 was shot. Rather than fight with it, I would like to replace it with a Holley "Street Avenger" carb. The Holley site lists a P/N 0-08452 as the correct replacement carb. I have also been advised to purchase the P/N 20-91 transmission kickdown spring and bracket kit.
I have the following questions:
1. Does the fuel line connect in the same manner as the stock carb, or do I have to re-plumb the fuel line? Most of the pictures of a 4160-series carb appear to have the fuel inlet coming out of the right side, rather than the front of the carb.
2. Do I have all of the vacuum fittings that I need to hook up all of the vacuum lines that were on the old carb? There are about six vaccum lines for the distributor vacuum advance , EFE, etc.
Sorry to ask dumb questions, but I'm a newbie , and need to order parts through the mail.
I don't think that it will have the bowl vent tube hook ups on it. It should have all of the vacuum line hook ups that you need, but it will not be a direct replacement. Some modifications in vacuum routing and the fuel line will be needed. You can usually just add a small piece of rubber fuel line between the stock line and the carb, and the vacuum ports will be located in different spots so you may need to lengthen or shorten your lines.
If you have emmisions testing in your area, they may frown on the bowl vents not being hooked up any more.
