Oil Change

Hello, I am new to Ford Trucks and also to this forum so please bear with me.
I have a 2015 F-250 6.2 gasser
My manual says to replace oil every 7,500 miles.
I took it to Tire Discounters last oil change because they also rotate tires with oil change. I bought it used with only 4,600 miles so the tires were not my purchase
Tire Discounters window tag shows I should replace next oil change at 5,000 miles instead of 7,500.
Should I change oil at 5,000; 7,000 or 7,500???
Also I read on this website that most use FORD oil filters only...should I bring my own filters for T. D. To install when I get oil changed???
Thanks in advance for any feedback

I change mine every 5k because I travel on dirt roads a lot and work her pretty hard. I think every 7500 would be fine.

I set my reminder for 5K, and don't get too worried if it's 5.5, 6 or 7K. Usually well before 7.5K i manage to get it changed. Changing early won't harm anything but your wallet.

As much as we tow heavy with our little 330 (5.4) we use full synth and change oil and filter at or before 5000 miles. If you're not doing much towing or hot dusty driving Ford's recommendation of every 7500 miles should be sufficient to protect your investment. If you're using conventional oil I'd say change at around 3000 to 3500 miles.

What Chuck said in post 2, tempered with service (towing, dust).

And nothing wrong with bringing your own filters to use, though they probably won't give you a price break for doing so. They may even decline to offer a warranty as a result.

The computer will tell you the % of oil life in your truck BUT you have to do a vehicle health report to get that information. The truck sends it to your Sync account. I buy my oil and filters from my Ford parts guy and then have the dealer change it. I only use synthetic oil so its around $130 and a filter is around $10 and $30 to change it which is cheaper than the $200 when they get the oil for me

I go by what my computer tells me when it's time to change. I use Ford oil and filters from Wally World.

My personal preference is to use mobile 1 full synthetic and a purolator filter and to change my oil every 5k miles. While it was under warranty I used motorcraft oil and filters just in case there were any issues and they couldn't say it was because of the parts I was using. I would go by the ford manual and use ford parts, and if they say 7500 miles then that is what I would go with.

I go every 5k, full-synthetic, and do it myself. I'm not partial to any brand of filter. 5k is easy to track on the odometer & the cost isn't that much.

What he said. I've never had an oil-related problem in any engine of mine in 40 years, and have never been one to change the oil at a set frequency. Now days I use Mobil1 and shoot to change it somewhere between 7,500 and 10,000 miles.

There's no timer on oil making it go bad after so many miles

Well that is new to me. Didn't know of "% of oil use"
This however does bring up another issue I need to take care of.
I have not been able to use the SYNC device in my truck so I should probably take it to a Ford dealership and ask them for help?

I use Mobile 1 full synthetic. I change the oil and rotate the tires every 10,000 miles. I change the Pure 1 oil filter every 5000 miles. Been doing this for about 15 years in all my vehicles with no issues. I have just started going to the Mobile 1 full synthetic 15,000 oil. The extra $3.00 per 5 qt at wally world and the extra 5000 miles on the Mobile 1 label gives me a false sense of security. Probable the same oil as the 10,000 oil

Speaking of that vehicle health report, I found out that if you have your parking brake set when you run the report, the report will tell you that you have a brake system problem since the same light that tells you that the parking brake is set is also the brake system idiot light!

That's a finely-tuned machine of a system right there!
