Ok, just to make this clear, I'm NOT the one getting married here
My cousin is getting married Friday. I've never been to a wedding before, and I'm just looking for some "pointers" I should be aware of. Its a black tie wedding, and I rented a 3 piece double breasted black tux for the event.
Anything I should be forewarned of ????
I have to tell my dad to leave his fishing gear home for this event
It's okay to turn around and smile at the bride as she comes down the aisle, but wolf whistles, cat calls and foot stomping is frowned on. Likewise, don't yell "hot springs tonight" or other encouraging remarks to the couple.
About the only thing you have to do is tell them which side you are sitting on, the bride's side or the groom's side. After that you are pretty much told what to do.
be sure to offer your "assistance" to the groom's half of the wedding party when they go out to "accesorize" the get away vehicle. after all, you want to make sure the job is done correctly!!!

For those not used to seeing the rituals and ceremony of High Church:
Bishops get to wear a massive embroidered overcoat, with gold and silver threads. Mine was a gold base material.. Under this great heavy thing, is a silk robe, also gold, with a shorty white thing over it.. but you can't see that, the overcoat thingy covers it up.. Underneath that lot, is a grey thing, about the size of a tee shirt, but 2 feet longer...
Over the top of the whole outfit goes a couple of large pieces of material, with heavy embroidery all over, one white, and broader, one red and narrower, occupying the same area, round the neck, and over the chest. Perched on top of this ridiculously hot gear is a hat that would do really well as an implement of torture - it weighs about 3 pounds, has embroidery all over it, and is maybe 18 inches tall. On the feet, one gets to wear some very uncomfortable white leather boots, that have smooth soles, so you slide around a lot..
The only good thing about being out of work, is I do not have to wear that anymore!!!
That makes me very happy - I have never enjoyed the pomp, circumstance or ceremony of ritual religion. Give me a plain suit anyday....
