Original tailgate question

Did the original tailgates have a slight curve in them from side to side? The tailgate I got is from a junk yard. It was in really nice condition. I've been prepping for paint, and I was trying to get it to operate as best it can. I noticed the tailgate has a slight, even curve, and the other lines seem to follow. I doesn't seem like it's from wear.

My orginal definitely had had a curve, but most of that was from hauling round hay bales for years.

My tailgate is straight no curve. It was a barn find. Taken off in the late 70's and never put back on a truck till I got it

I'm pretty sure they're intended to be straight. I have one that's curved like you say, but that one is that way from heavy items sliding around and slamming into it over the last 20ish years.
