I have a 99 ranger 3.0l with engine management and engine compartment harness "issues".

I have a Ford Electrical Service Manual for a 2003 Ranger.. but at another location MANY MILES away.

Does anyone know if the wiring for these 2 years is the same? I don't want to get it mailed to me if they are not the same.

 

Diagrams are very complex so it's not likely someone will know every single detail of both wiring systems to be able to answer your question and say they're definitely the same.

 

I use many sources to try to figure things out sometimes. One of them is Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market. It will automatically bring in other years that may be compatible.

So what I did was plug in a 1999 ranger and searched for a 3.0 engine. They have several types to choose from. I chose the 3.0 after 7/27/99 and plugged in the search for the whole country to get a good selection. Doing this only brought in year 1999 and 2000 engines. I then selected 7/26/99 and before, and that brought in only 98 and 99 engines. When someone buys and engine, they want to to drop in, plug in, and go. So that tells me there are major differences even in those couple of years.

I then plugged in a 2003. Only 2003 engines came up. I don't know if the engines are mechanically different or electrically different.

If you want to go here Search Wiring Diagrams you could plug in both years and study the diagrams.

 

I've got a few Rangers in that year span. Electrical layout is very similar and I think you could find your way through a 1999 with a 2003 EVTM, but there will be some minor differences. Options and individual circuits may vary.
