Ignition problem

I just got a 1966 f250 custom cab 352 and have replaced battery, spqrk plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor as well as the ignition switch and starter solenoid yet when i go to turn the key nothing comes on. Truck hasnt ran since 1983 but i can jump the solenoid and it will crank so its something in between and the truck also has solid state ignition so was wondering if anyone would know what it might be

you need to go through this in a logical manner...have you confirmed you have power to the solenoid when the switch is in the start position, power to the coil with ignition on, power to points, etc? Somebody will probably be along to spell out the diagnostic steps ad nauseum, but in the meantime, there is tons of info you can access on the web for diagnosing basic points ignition systems. Went through same thing myself about 2 months ago with a '67 mustang that hadn't ran since the 90s. Turned out that the only thing I needed to replace was the points and condenser.

First you need 2 tools:
1. A wiring diagram
2. A voltmeter (or multi-meter)

I don't have my wiring diagram in front of me so I can only give you a general approach.

Step 1: Verify you have 12v "hot at all times" coming to the ignition switch. (It sounds like this is your first problem).
Step 2: Verify that the ignition lead (iirc red w/ green stripe) that goes to the starter solenoid is getting 12 volts when the key is in start.

Since you can jump the solenoid you should be able to get it cranking from the key at this point. Since the main source of power doesn't appear to be there, you're not going to have any power to the coil until you fix problem 1.
