So... thought I knew how it works, wondering now.
Tonight I was coming home from Ice cream place.
Have been playing with automatic setting on exhaust brake.
Coming down 5% grade at 25mph and set brake to automatic. (winding road)
It down shifted twice (not towing) it went down to second then basically quit and started up-shifting, finished hill be stepping on brakes at 40mph. A couple times while towing on the 1st exhaust brake setting (ON) I would swear it was dropping out. Now I am really wondering.
To my understanding - the regular jake brake works with whatever gear you're in. The auto works on a decline, tap the brakes to keep your MPH constant.
