Looking for advice on what any of you paid for similar[ish] priced trucks, specifically an XLT if possible. I built a truck thru a dealer to order, and the numbers they gave me are as follows for a 2017 F250 CCSB XLT 6.7:
MSRP 60,380
Invoice 56841.62
They are offering to order for 500 under invoice, so 56,341.62.
I am trying to get them down 1000 more to be at (or at least much closer) to the number I was hoping to see. I've bought 4 vehicles from them in the last 7 years. I was hoping to get more of the holdback due to them not having to advertise or let it sit on the lot.
One last note, they are saying I have a $1000 First Responder Rebate, when I even confirmed with Ford yesterday via phone that I have a $500 First Responder Rebate. Dan, the same salesman I've used the last 4 times, told me that his manager was the one who pulled that number, and when I tried telling him it should only be $500, he said they would honor the $1000. So this would bring the grand total on an XLT with $1000 First Responder rebate to $4000.
What do you guys think. They don't want to budge on this number, nor raise my trade in to come to the $1000 difference that we currently sit at.
Is there more room for them to mark down on this truck, or am I overshooting the moon here. Currently I told them to let me know if they change their mind.
$500 under invoice is a good number for both sides. They are honoring the $1000 FR rebate instead of $500, so in actuality, you are only $500 apart on a $56k truck. Don't sweat the small stuff...go for it! Rebates should be good when it shows up.
I've talked preliminary numbers with them on 2 other vehicles, and I walked away from both. So he knows when I said I had to have that number, that I absolutely meant I would walk. I have walked twice in the last couple weeks....
im usually down for a good negotiation especially when my $$$ is on the line. If you dont want to negotiate $$$ with me anymore then we will start negotiating add ons and bonus stuff. my SD we talked the price to where all party's were locked up. I accepted their "bottom number" diddnt shake on it and chose my wording carefully to follow. We began to talk about things like bedliners and service packages, i really drove home the "Agreed upon" number but managed to negotiate a bedliner, extended warranty and lifetime service plan while still maintaining my "out the door" price.
I was firm but friendly.
***NOTE***
dealership offers a "lifetime service" (oil change, rotation, and inspection) but they up charge $1000-$2000 in the "fees". the negotiation was to remove the charge while still enrolling me in the program. They did.

How much longer before you will be forced to do a 2018? The way I see it, that is your only risk in holding on. Well that and there will probably be some price difference. On the other hand, you might be able to find something that meets your needs in existing inventory after the 2018's are in production - and that should mean a larger discount.
Theres probably about $1700 of holdback in the truck. They could come down another couple of hundred without breaking a sweat. I would do it at $800 below invoice. Order today if you can because tomorrow you will be ordering a 2018 and there will be no rebates on those for awhile.
Ask them to split the difference, or walk. See how badly they want your business. If you do walk, at least you have a bargaining baseline at the next dealership who I'm sure would be happy to win your business.

Thanks, that's exactly what i did. Just texted him a bit ago, waiting on the response. I'd think they would want a stat for the $500 difference. I also said that was only if they guarantee the $1000 first responder rebate.
They have rock bottom prices and don't negotiate, the price is the price. Just beware their online pricing doesn't include destination charge, so you have to add that back in for a proper comparison.
But at a high level you can consider their pricing the best you will find for whatever time you are looking. Just find a comparable truck and do a % off comparison.

Well he called me back, and is adamant that the manager is firm. I walked after explaining all I needed to about why they have room for 500-1000 more, such as my trade being as nice as it is and theres an easy $3-4000 in it for them, so give me the better deal on the trade or the new truck. Walked. Frustrating, but have to hold my ground on it.

I'm actually tempted to just email the owner directly and ask them if the deal seems like too much to ask for my 5th vehicle there. I may not have mentioned it before, but my father-in-law worked here for 12 years as a Ford Master mechanic/tech. He left a couple years ago to work for a pharmaceutical company which pays better, but left on excellent terms with them. It's not just that I have bought 4 vehicles here, I have a family nexus to the dealership, and they highly respect my father in law still. They gave him a brand new F150 to drive for free and return with empty gas when their car was being repaired at a DIFFERENT dealership (Subaru), thats how good their relationship still is.....

If you have that kind of relationship with the owners try it.

You made the right call. You should be able to get that truck for around $51,200. Not exactly the same truck but close to original MSRP for comparision:
