Anyone have Shock recommendations for a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab? I do mostly highway driving and occasional towing of a <3000lb boat. Moslty looking for a smoother ride for the commute. Thanks.

Is this a 4x4 or 4x2? Ken is right...Bilstein makes great shocks. However, don't expect them to give you a smooth highway ride. I think they are only offered tuned for off-road use.
monroe reflex (avaiable @ most part stores) is the best shock 4 the 4x4 model w/ great highway ride and will help u w/ towing. i put them on my 99 mazda b3000 and it ride like a lincolin or better. on and off road.
I had some air shocks on at one time, until one blew its seal and I put cheap gabriels on...I don't like them, to bouncy... it feels like I need an anti sway bar sometimes (which I think I'll get, just because it may be a good idea..)
I was considering the Gabriel MaxControl but hadn't heard of anyone's experience with them. Has anyone?? From what milliken says sounds like the Monroe Reflex may be a good bet for what I am looking for.

Bilsteins give me a very smooth ride with a 4X2 std. cab Ranger.
Thanks for the advice guys! I went with the Monroe Reflex - they fit the budget and sound like what I am looking for.
Any tips on installation? Looks fairly simple and from what I hear should only take about an hour (all 4). Should I replace the mounting hardware/bolts? The shocks didn't come with them, only the fronts came with the nuts and bushings....
