Trailer TPMS

I am having trouble getting the system to recognize sensors.I have 17.5 wheels with Goodyear G114 tires.I have tried several times the last after 200 mile trip home.I can get the sensors on front axle to register but not back axle. The TPMS sensor is mounted to outside frame 14' in front of first axle, far as harness would reach.Anyone else have any issues? My thoughts are to make an extension harness for TPMS sensor, or see if one is available. Trailer is a 38' fifth wheel camper.

As a test, dismount the sensor box, park the truck next to the trailer (not hitched up) and that should give you some slack in the wire to the sensor box. Place the sensor box between the two axles. Now go through the sensor relearn process and see if they are recognized.

I was wondering how far that was going to reach. My current setup on my horse trailer doesnt' allow me to get the TPMS box below the front wall by the time I run it over the gooseneck. Was thinking Nichols Manufacturing can probably make a nice extension cable for the TPMS so i could get it back there a ways.

I installed mine on front of my gooseneck horse trailer and haven't had any problem reading the sensors

I wonder if it's the thick steel carcass of the 17.5's is blocking the signal some? I have G614's (also a steel carcass tire) which read fine but the Ford kit does advice agains using their setup on steel tires. Perhaps the 17.5's are that much thicker? Just guessing here.

Sort of what I was thinking. The 3' further back and signal interference because of tires.I will try and
make extension for harness and move sensor back 4'.Since front axle works should solve problem if it is weak signal.
Thanks

Finally got to splice harness and moved sensor back toward axle added 6' to harness. Solved the issue I was having now have all sensors programmed.

Can the TPMS be added to a truck that doesn't have the trailer technology bundle. I can see in my options screen TPMS, just don't know if its for the truck or trailer. Obviously I have TPMS delete because its a dually.

F350 DRW's have TPMS for 2017 Sarge. You can't add trailer TPMS unless you have the tow tech bundle or the camera package. Either one of those will have the harness to plug into for the trailer camera/TPMS.

Hmmm,

Ill have to check again but I didn't see any pressures on my screen. I also haven't read the manual yet as I usually do so that could be part of my problem.

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like ill have to stick with the A/M trailer monitor.

My F450 has the ultimate package with the 360 camera. Does this mean I can add the trailer tpms?

My 2017 F350 XLT has the trailer camera and TPMS. I mounted the TPMS box underneath our Fiver near the driver side landing gear. Had Schwab’s install the TPMS sensors in the trailer tires. I had to let about 10 PSI out of each tire in order to train the system. Unlike the truck TPMS, the trailer TPMS doesn’t remeber the pressure after you disconnect, so you won’t see the pressure readings when you first hitch up. I purchased the Nichols 7/12 plug setup for the bed. Used spiral wrap to marry the 7 and 12 pin umbilicals, so it is like handling a single cable.

Rodney, does this mean that even though no factory TPMS is available for the F450 truck tires the trailer tire system does work?

Related: Any good news on F450 truck tire TPMS for 2018 or maybe a retrofit?

Do any of the aftermarket TPMS systems integrate into the F450 displays?
