Looking at purchasing a rear hitch mounted rack that can hold 4 bicycles.
Considering how our barn doors open etc, has anyone found a particular model that works well with our trucks, perhaps in a manner to allow easier access to open the hatch glass, and barn doors if needed.
Thule makes a good one - I picked it up a while back when a local store was liquidating. Swings down so you can open the tail gate with the bikes on there. I don't have picks off hand, but this is the model - great quality.
I use the Thule Vertex XT Swing 4 Bike Hitch Rack. Currently on sale at REI. It clears to the side of the truck and locks there. Easy access to both the rear compartment and the bikes once at my destination.

I don't have one yet, but have been looking at the Kuat NV bike rack (made in the USA!). It tilts down to allow access to rear hatch. I doubt you would be able to fully open the barn doors with a rack full of bikes...but could open the rear hatch. It's a little more expensive, but supports the bikes on the tires, rather than the frame...and looks really sharp! I've not pulled the trigger on one because we have 6 in our family, so would still need to deal with 2 more bikes after we filled up the 4 on the rack. Thus, we just use the truck, or pull a trailer with the bikes when we need it.
Another option recommended by one of the bike shops is the Saris Superclamp.
Not sure I can open the door with four bikes on it, but this is a dual purpose rack from northern tool. You can see the fold down wheel hoops laying flat for bikes. It also has a tie down bar that extends from the rear of it. It is handy for a lot of things besides bikes.
