Do any of you fine fellows care to post a picture of your front swaybars if you have the kingpin Dana 60? I donot have one, would like to get one, don't know where to get one, and wonder the difference it would make. I have a rear swaybar that I extended the links because of a lift, but the front was tossed when I swapped in the front axle. Truck is '86 f250, 460 4speed. Thanks!
I can't help with the photo - but my F250 4X4 with TTB front suspension came with sway bars, and recently I removed the front ones (per recommendations from a "My truck rides bad" thread) - and it really makes a difference.
My truck rides so much better without the front sway bar. If I was to add a camper shell or such, I might want to reinstall the bars, but otherwise I see no need for them (removed front only. Rear is still installed).
I know this is not relevant to your request - just thought I mention it.
I think there is science involved with the geometry of the ttb system and a swaybar, I will agree with you though, I took mine off as well. But now with the Dana 60, I'd like to put it back on.
Numberdummy-what's the number WITH the moonbeam? Thanks!
you will be surprised as to how many years/models fit what you want. if you search up my threads in projects, I did a 1981 F100 (which literally shares some parts with the F150, F350 from years 1981-91) and got the sway bar from someone here.
I added both front and rear (it had none) and made quite a handling truck.
by removing the front, in a 10/10th situation you made your truck favor an oversteer condition, which is almost always fatal (to the truck) should it ever be encountered. beware!

I'm not sure what you mean by "10/10th" situation.
The sway bars were an option. They came in the "Handling Package" (or "Camper Package" and such).
I don't doubt that sway bars improve "handling" (not "ride") but if there is some fatal condition without sway bars, I'm sure Ford would have made them standard and not optional equipment.

What he is saying is if you took the front sway bar out, you should take the rear one out also. Just having the rear one in place stiffens the rear of the truck, making it Nascar "loose". In a turn the rearend will want to come around on you, that is his "fatal condition".
If you are going to have one sway bar, the factory always put it up front. That makes the frontend stiffer or Nascar "tight". They always design a vehicle to be tight, if you go into a turn and lose it, they want the frontend to push into the turn. Most people in this situation will panic and hit the brakes. They usually recover from this scenario, the brakes put more weight on the front and the car besides slowing down will usually recover out of the turn without too much drama.
Being on this subject....i have an '85 F150 4WD but does not have a sway bar. I really want a front sway bar but in researching it seems I do not have the bracket below the spring housing necessary for the end links to attach to.
I've looked at many many sights and not been able to them for sale. Oh sure i can find and purchase a sway bar but without that bracket on the truck there's no way to install one on my truck. Anyone have a source ? Or an alternative ?
JCWhitney sells a complete sway bar kit. I am sure it doesn't bolt on like factory but it looks like it has a bunch of mounting hardware to bolt it on somehow.
