Haven't heard of any intake manifold cracking issues for the 6.8L.
You might have a leaking gasket.
Are you working on a vacuum or coolant issue?
For a vacuum issue the PCV hose is probably the first place to check.

A cracked intake would sucks in air that is not metered so computer will be confused and motor will not run right. Expecially at high vacuum/idle.
For example if you pull a vacuum hose off a good running motor while running it will stumble and idle poorly.
That's the sign of a cracked intake.
