I have found a KR SRW on a local lot with pretty much everything I want on it except upfitter switches. What all have you guys done with yours, and is this something I should hold out on? Lotsa variables in that last question understandably, but whatever input you got is appreciated.
I have up fitter switches but I doubt I'll ever use them. I'm not the type to add additional lighting and I'll probably never add a winch or anything. I suppose maybe one of these days I'll find something I wish the truck had and I'll be able to use them.
I ordered them on my KR planning to add AUX lighting. Now I am questioning if I need to with the LED headlights...
Good question on the front...........But...... everyone needs 'em on the rear.
I will have 1 pair on the rear...... may put 2 pair. After some inspiration.... I'm also currently rewiring a trailer to add some to the back of trailer.
You can wire the rears to existing reverse/backup lights, but I think it works better just to use the switch. There are times when you may not want/need them and times where you want to turn them on when parked or not in reverse. So..... a switch is probably best option for the rears.

Cool. Any way to accomplish that without the upfitters?
Just buy your choice of switch and mount it where ever you like. This has been done for decades. All the upfitter switch does is give you a prewired bank of relays and switches.
But if you don't have upfitters you can buy any relay and switch you want. You will just need to get a wire into the cab if you want your switch in the cab.

I think even without the upfitters you still get the wiring bundle in the passengers kick panel that is pre-run through the firewall.
1. air bag compressor.
2. rear facing lights under bumper (still have to install them they just arrived)
3. CB radio (i know who still uses these? - well I still have one so I put it in the truck.)
4. not sure yet
enabled the optional switch in relay box to make 5 and 6 hot even without the key on.
5. in bed DC power port - main uses a. ARB fridge b. lithium battery changer(s) for various tools.
6. not sure yet
A lot of guys use one switch for high idle control on the diesel. But the modern 6.7L really doesn't need it. It can still be helpful for better A/C in the summer. I believe in extreme cold, the engine will gradually increase idle speed on its own to prevent wet stacking.
I have the upfitters because they look cool all lit up in the roof, but I really have no use for them.
