Today I stomped on it a few times and I guess with the 4.30's I don't really feel that lag when not towing. Hooked up to the RV trailer it takes off really good but I usually don't hot-rod it when hooked up.
Pedal commander arrived today and it took 5 mins to install. I had a good chance to try it out. Me and the wife had a day off and headed to the beach about a 40 minute drive. Truck felt much more responsive than stock. It made the overall driving experience a lot better! I tried all the different settings and city 3 is what I have it set at right now. Sport+ is very touchy. Probably good for a drag race but not everyday driving. Economy is 10x worse than stock. imo it was a good investment. I had some credits on amazon so it cost me $187. You can get it cheaper than 300 if you look around.
Even with the tune I still get slow throttle response up until around 3K RPM's. That's when the throttle plate fully opens and she takes off like a bat out of hell.
Thanks fir the review. To be clear. It did help with the slow response, and not just making the throttle open more with less input?
No problem. It seems like there's less delay because it's opening the throttle a lot quicker. You don't have to stomp on the pedal as much for the truck to react. Now if I only could get my truck to stop shifting into 6th gear at 39 mph!

I was under the impression the 5star tune opened the throttle 100% when you mash the throttle. How do like the tune overall?
I plan on giving it some time and more reviews before considering the install of the pedal commander. Although only a few, the handful of stories about sudden loss of pedal control and power concern me, especially when towing.
@don123 Don't get me wrong, the tune is great. Even with the tune though, you still suffer from a partially opened throttle plate until you reach higher RPM's. I'm hoping the Pedal Commander gives me more control of the throttle plate on the low end.
Ha! ..suffer from partially opened throttle plate...That's funny.

The tune will definitely help with the shift points. When cruising along, my truck stays in 5th until I reach 52-55 mph. That in its self helps with responsiveness. It's the same with the other gears too. They are all adjusted to more realistic shift points.
Just ordered a pedal commander. There is no debate that the factory throttle response is pure junk due to the fuel mileage/EPA wars. Want to wait for the warranty to expire to drop 7$$$ large on the tuner. I'll get back to y'all, stand by for an update.
Keep in mind that some of the stock laggyness could be more about safety than emissions too - it could be an attempt to make SURE that the go-pedal is where the computer thinks it is before doing anything.
Sudden-acceleration issues are not something to sneeze at

I'm sure it's programmed into the OEM tuning for a reason; that reason continues to be lost on this old man. I'd like to think growing up when i did has taught me how to drive.
