Aluminum radiator from Champion fit the bill. Got a 4-core for less than $300. A flexlite fan clutch and fan blades for about a $110.
Fits with the original spacer. Had to trim the fan shroud a bit.
All in all, it was a nice upgrade. I've had Champion radiator in my 67 Ranchero for years with no problem. Look forward to many more years without issues in this 1972 F-250.
I've been considering one for mine. I just put a new 3 row copper one in it a few years ago, but I've had more leaks on it than the original ever did.
Haven't decided though how many rows I'd want. 4 will cool more, but I've heard it's also harder to pull air through them. I could probably get away with a 2 row, but I'd rather have too much than not enough. )Especially down here in Hell... haha) so I'm split between 3 or 4.

A good quality 3 row will cool better than a 4 row. The job the fins do is more important than the tubes. So fin count is important. The fins direct air around the tubes and slow the air passing through down a tad. Giving the air more time to pick up the heat from the tubes. 4 row's core gets so thick most radiator manufacturers lessen the fin count to make it easier on the fan blade to pull air through.
So I vote 3 row.
I found a shorter fan spacer off one of my old Falcon six cylinders and it sits perfect with the blades sticking out no more than half way past the shroud. The temp gauge sits at the same place as it did before, right in the middle, no matter how hot or cold. No complaints, except now I noticed a freeze plug starting to seep... bit of a challenge lately keeping coolant in her after blowing another heater core (two in a year)!

I did the 4 core champion on mine with the fan and fan clutch from one of HIOs stickies. With that fan, it moves some air! Do it,just DO IT
