Has anybody installed kargomasterII or equivalent racks on the aluminum super duties. I am looking to install this heavy duty rack with an ARE DCU cap also. I am an electrical contractor and unfortunately have to install this stuff on my nice new truck. Wondering how the bed rails hold up with the added weight.

Have you checked out the Tracrac SR system? No drill design and good weight rating. I've had 5 bundles of 1'' EMT on it with ladders and a few rolls of romex, no issues.
The best thing I like about it is the rack slides out of the way so you can grab tools wire, etc without ducking down or hitting your head.
That looks strong enough but I'm thinking I need the side tool boxes that the DCU cap will provide. I'm trying to limit climbing in and out of the back...LOL. I also have to carry 16' temp power poles so I need a longer rack solution...limited options with a cap. I have always worked out of the e series vans and still have a 2000 e 350. I bought a 2015 t 250 transit which we also use but I am not impressed with the unibody. So I am transitioning from extended e 350 to f 250 ...should be interesting. At least I have 4x4 and a SUPER DUTY truck.

Oh, that's asking quite a bit for any ladder rack. I'd worry you'd damage the bed also. Not so much as the weight, but the leverage of the pole.
I do know the tracrac has a toolbox adapter, for a gooseneck style tool box. The side boxes, yeah, I don't think will work if you would want to slide the ladder rack forward.
I've set my truck up in a different way, as I ordered it with the tailgate step, so climbing in the back isn't an issue. I hate hate hate it, reaching over the bed rails for a tool bag or parts box.
They are only 4x4 x16"pressure treated. weigh 100lbs or so. I've carried them on my e 350 for 17 years no problem. Kargomaster bed racks hold 1700 lbs. I would like an aluminum option but not finding what I need. I see these racks on trucks all the time just not the aluminum beds. The cap has tool box shelves at bed rail height so I wont have to reach down into the bed, which wouldn't be possible with the height of the f250 4x4 bed anyway. I wish I had the tailgate step.

Look at a tracrac 'TracOne'. Same design, but fixed on each end. Made of aluminum also.
Havw thought about pulling the factory bed and putting something else on? I've got a flatbed on mine. Built a rear rack that pins into my rub rail for hauling long stuff on the headache rack. A utility bed with a good rack might be perfect for you.
I am an electrician as well and just had a Leer 180CC commercial cap installed with CapRac ladder racks. I believe the racks hold 400-500lbs ? The sides have plenty of storage in the bins.
Nice , that is my truck LOL. I am trying to decide between the leer like yours or the ARE DCU max cap. I like the looks of the fiberglass caps just not sure how they hold up in the Florida sun, my ladders don't like the sun.

I cant work off of flatbed or utility bed I need enclosed storage. I'm looking at a cap and heavy duty racks along the lines of kargomaster II. (see attatched pic)Thanks for suggestion though all are welcome. I'm going from working out of a van for 25+ years. Theres a combo out there I just have to find it. This will probably work for me, I'm trying to find out if these racks will beat up the aluminum bed.

How is it loading ladders on top of the higher cap. It looks like the back of truck lowered a little bit from the weight? Mine is empty and looks higher in the back. Do you have any pics of the open toolbox, wondering what I can store in there.

The truck only dropped about 1/4-1/2", not much at all. Loading the ladders isn't bad at all, Leer also makes a cap like mine but lower (100RCC). They have multiple bin configurations and ladder racks to choose from.
Side bins Back inside LEER 100RCC

This is our first fiberglass cap, all of our other trucks have the LEER DCC aluminum caps. I wanted something that fit the truck better and looked a little more personal but was still tough and had the utility I need.

Electron plumber how do those aluminum caps hold up. Is the fiberglass much heavier than the aluminum?
We have had very good luck with our aluminum caps and our guys aren't always the easiest on stuff. We have been running aluminum caps on SD's for 15yrs with no issues. I was told by the truck upfitter that we buy all of our caps from that the fiberglass is just as strong/durable and weighs about the same (maybe little less) than the aluminum. Only reason I went with fiberglass is because I like the looks a little better, it looks more "thought out" to me. I do believe though that the aluminum cap does have a little more side bin storage than the fiberglass but I'm fine with that. I think my fiberglass cap if I read right has a 5 yr warranty on the finish/clearcoat/etc and aluminum was 3 yr.
