I just replaced the brake pads on my 00 XLT because I was getting a grinding sound during hard braking or braking when pulling a trailer. The old pads were pretty worn, but not excessively and the rotors had no grooves, so I put new pads on and I am still having this problem.
Sidenote: Just installed a set of helper springs on the rear and it has made a big difference.
Any info on the braking issue would be greatly appreciated.
Yes. At first, I thought that it came from the back, but when I had someone riding with me, they felt it through the floorboard on the passenger side. Not abe to figure it out yet.

Thanks
I had the same problem with my 01 when I replaced my brake pads with the life time warranty pads from Autozone (Albany I think they are called). Worse than that, the rotors also warped (not sure it was a related problem). I had the rotors turned and replaced these pads with a Raybestos ceramic pad that advertised as quiet stop. High priced but it solved the problem.
possibly a wheel bearing goin bad. take a look asap. cause if it is and you let it go, it will cost you alot more than just the bearing. make feel like a grinding, and also pull the wheel to the right a bit. good luck
