Hi all I've been lurking around for quite awhile( mostly on the 2017 Super Duty threads)and finally joined, I was in need of a replacement for my daily driver, 2001 F-350 7.3L 6-speed flatbed with 390,000 almost trouble free miles, the NE winters took its toll on that poor truck (it had more holes then a block of swiss cheese) but she was a runner.
I started looking in 2016 and finally ordered a 2017 F-350 chassis on January12, took ownership in February 28, I was having a aluminum flatbed made for me as the truck was being built as I was told the truck would be 8 to 10 weeks, well that didn't happen like i planned it so I was driving around without a bed for 3 weeks.
The bed was installed on March 22 and the truck is now ready for a new year of camping to begin.
I really do like the truck so far but its still a baby, I do have the leaky aluminum wheel syndrome that i temporarily fixed until I can get It to the dealer and the passenger side rear window makes a loud click midway when I roll it down but with just shy of 10,000 miles I'm happy( I'm just hoping Its at least 1\2 as good as my '01 was), the fuel economy is better for both towing and just running empty( 11 to 12 towing a 38' 12,000 LB 5th-wheel and 15.5 to 16 with just the truck 9,000 or so as I have not weighed the truck yet)the best I ever got was driving 60 on a 2 lane country road for a 35 mile trip and averaged 17.9MPG.The pic with dash you will see the DTE, I did a lot of towing with the last tank so it is only saying around 810 miles but its normally over 1,000 so that makes me happy that I opted for the dual fuel tanks.
I do like the power even though its less then the pickup but its more then what I had with the chipped 7.3, The only thing I'm still on the fence about is the body and how its going to hold up in the winter with all the ice melt crap they put on the road but only time will tell.
Thanks for all the good info that I received on this forum that helped me make the right decision on buying another Ford
