Yes. I have a 79 bronco i am planning on putting a 6" suspension lift on plus a 3" body lift. Could anyone tell me about how big of a tire i could safely stuff under it. I am thinking around a 40" tire. Is this about right. Also i am getting the suspension lift out of JC whitney for about $250.00 and the body lift out of summit for about $75.00. Does anyone know of any other lifts out there cheaper or can anyone give me pointers or what to look out for. One more question. I have the 400v8 and it does have lots of power "not stock" and i am wondering about what gears to run and where to get them cheap. I am thinking about 4:11s or so. I have the dana front end i belive. thanks
dude with 40" tires, 4.11's? thats not much gear for 40 inch rubber, id be thinkin 5.13's. and what are you getting in that kit from JCWhitny ? im looking at a 4" skyjacker kit that has everything, radious arm, front and rear springs all, the stuff and its over a grand! DW
I would stay away from any suspension lift that is only 250. The bare minimum I would suggest paying for a halfway decent lift is 500. JC Whitney is notorious for selling foreign crap. Also, with 40 inch rubber, I would run 4.56 or 4.88, depending on what your plans for this truck are. Who knows, if you need a stump puller, 5.13s might not be out of the question. Cheap always has drawbacks, I look for 'competitive' pricing.

4.56 gears will give you an engine speed of about 2500 rpm at 65 mph with 40 inch tires. 4.11's will probably be too low and you'll suffer a performance hit. BTW, you aren't considering this with the stock axles, are you? If you take it off-road at all you'll end up breaking the axles. The D44 won't hold up to tires this big for any length of time unless you really baby it. Alloy axles and CTM axle joints help, but 40's will break even them eventually.
Stay away from cheap lift kits, they're nothing but headaches. Make sure when you get your kit that you also get a drop Pitman arm, good shocks, and extended brake lines. You'll also need an adjustable track bar to recenter the axle. These are all extra cost items and essential to a good lift. Be sure to get a kit with rear springs instead of blocks, they work a LOT better.
For your vehicle, Superlift makes lift kits up to 12 inches. I'd seriously consider a taller suspension lift and no body lift, but that's my personal preference.
