Hi all, I have a 2003 Escape Limited that recently developed a leak that I quickly tracked down to the transmission cooler. The leak is from a small neat hole just to the passenger side of center on the bottom rail of the cooler. The odd thing to me is the hole appears to be factory made, It's neat, not rusted, perfectly round, and with no burrs that would suggest it had been accidentally drilled in to. Is this possibly a hole that had a plug in it that rotted away? If not, can anyone suggest a way to plug it without removing it?

Can you post a picture of what you are talking about.

 

I tried to seal the leak with J.B. Weld. It didn't work. I'm going to remove the cooler. I can take a better picture then.

 

Is it at least leaking trans fluid or water? (thinking it IS a oil/water cooler on these???)

 

It's definitely tranny fluid. If it stops raining, I might be able to get to it today.
