I bought a Tuff Country lifty kit w/extended radius arms, i was working on it today and i could not figure out how you take the old ones off/put the new ones on. I removed the top nut on the coil spring retainer and got to the second nut, the directons said it should be a bolt that goes all the way through the traction beam, but it is not, i removed a bolt from the bottem of the traction beam that was independant of th top one. I do not see how you are supposed to get the old arm off and put a new one on, it says it will just slide on, but there is about 2" of bolt sticking up that i have to get the arm off of, and then put the new one back on. Do you have to take the hub, rotor and spindle off and push that bolt down? or is there any easyer way. Sorry if this didnt make much sence, im not good at explaining this stuff. Thanks
I think you're refering to the stud on the top of the radius arm? It has to come out however you can get it out, but it's usually not necessary to disassemble the whole axle and spindle. It can be a PITA to get that stud out--mine were! Took alot of penetrating oil, a long cheater bar and some muscle. An air impact gun wouldn't move it.
once i get it out how do i re-install it, cause the one end is in the Traction beam? I figured i would have to take of everything to the spindle just to get a wrench in there. Thanks
