question about mudflaps?

I just purchased a 2003 F250 super cab, short bed and I would like to mount some big mudflaps on it. I don't want those little plastic ones that ford offers, I was thinking some bigger ones like from like a small semi truck. Has anyone done this before. Do I need to make a bracket to mount them or can they just be screwed into the fender? Any suggestions? Thanks Bob

question about mudflaps?

I mounted the flap to a piece of galvanized angle iron. Then took some galvanized strap and attached the inside to the welded seam of the bed. The outside was attached to the fender fold. It hangs freely and is right were I want it....used stainless steel bolts for all attachments. The "bolts" were oval head, phillips head.

question about mudflaps?

At work we have a 97 f250HD, the mud flaps are attached to an angle iron that is mounted near the rear bumper. I would not recomend doing this if you pull a trailer. after two years, there is only half of one remaining. The weight of the gooseneck trailer has caused the mud flaps to rub the ground and come off.
