I've been running Ford Motorcraft 15W40 oil now for the last 3 oil changes. I decided to switch from the Rotella T6 right before the CK4 stuff hit the shelves and before Ford issued their statement to avoid CK4 oil unless it meets their WSS-M2C171-F1 specification.
Here's a list of oil that meet their new specification.
The 6.7l diesel supplemental manual states when towing a trailer for over 1000 miles 5w40 synthetic is recommended.
With that said be sure whatever oil you use is included on the list posted above.
One of the simplest solutions to staying on the sidelines of the current Ford 'approved CK4 oils' debacle is to run Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme 5w40 synthetic. It was a great oil in CJ4, is approved in CK4, and being a 5w40 oil it meets Fords Severe Service requirements. It is avalaible online and in local Napa Auto Parts stores.

To T6 or not to T6? I know up until the 30th, I the bottles of T6 I had in the garage for sale trying to get rid of it since I am switching over to PBE. I was very hopeful that it would get added, but it was just dragging on for too long.
Now like many, I have a stock of both. I've used T6 and have been happy with it, but if the PBE is a better oil, I'll probably stick with it. Of course it's going to take me 24,000 miles and probably 18 months before I am to that point.
I had forgot all about the tick tick. My truck used to do it all the time but hasn't in a while. Don't know what changed. Have 142000 miles and have run Rotella 15-40 since new.

I'm torn too.... Been using T6 since my 6.0 with great results. Have been using it in my 6.7 too. Actually, that's what's in it now that I need to change. A little over 7000 miles on it.
Right now Napa has PBE for $19.99 and Wal-Mart has T6 for $21.36. Not a big difference in price, so I'm debating trying PBE this round.
Ahhhh! The diesel world problems we face! Decisions decisions.....
