Your running the eddy carb. Wes's T/A with the eddy is doing almost the same, but different. I can roll at 100mph as long as I want. As soon as I let off the gas and hit it again, it acts like there's no fuel. Pat the gas a couple of time and that thing backfired so damn loud I thought the back end blew off.
All that to say, I did read that the floats will "move" out of adjustment.

I also have a buddy that has to run an electric fuel pump for the same reason you speak of and we have gone tip to tail trying to figure it out, but it will absolutely not run on the mechanical pump.

That's correct. And with 7psi of pressure, it should be plenty.

Agreed that 5/16" can support more than we have. With 3/8" there would be more fuel in it at any given spot to absorb the heat. The more fuel being feed the same amount of heat won't get as hot as a smaller amount of fuel. And plus if Garrett hand makes one it would prolly have smoother bends. Back in the day I was told heat soak usually happens in the bend of the fuel line.
Garrett, you could try some rubber hose around your existing 5/16" and checking the float level as Teach suggests.

I will probably look at bending a new line from pump to carb. Being careful about how it's routed. And wrap it in insulation as well.

I also ordered a new thermostat from TMeyer inc. 180*. He's the only one that makes a PROPER Cleveland thermostat. So that should help keep things a little cooler as well.

I think changing the line that are rubber over to steel braided line would help if the line is collapsing from being too hot. The other alternative is an electric fuel pump located at the end of the first hard line as it exits the cab.

To bad you couldn't make it going to Tombstone Garrett. Sorry for the short notice. I had a blast meeting Teach and his wife there.

I really wanted to go but I just had too much to do that day that couldn't wait. Hopefully next time!

The King and I decided it would be a bad idea for us to live close to each other. Left unsupervised, we would get in trouble.

Cool

I've found that getting in trouble gives you something to talk about when you get older.

Well, the cooler thermostat surely helped. I drove yesterday pushing it harder than I ever have for quite awhile. 75-80-85-90-95 mph for 40+ miles. TOWING A small 1200 pound trailer...

It ran fine until going up one hill when I downshifted and really gave her hell. But it never actually died on me.
