7 pin connector on a 2008 F-350
I need to make my trailer hot all the time cause I want to put emergency lights on the back for when I'm parked doing a job.
What wire is switched with the key ?
Plan on a line off battery with a 15a fuse in line back to the connector. I just don't know what pin to go to
Every time I work on connectors, I go to yahoo, Type in 7 flat wire diagram, click images. A wealth of pictures to pull up with diagrams.
You may have already a hot wire back there on the connector, You trailer just might not be wired for it, There might be a wire there to charge the battery for the emergency battery .
Honestly, I wouldn't want my emergency strobes wired into the key because then you have all the other acc. powered up too. My tandem dump trk has the beacon lights wired to the key and I have to manually turn off the radio, fan, etc.. so they don't run also. It would be nice to just shut the truck off and flip the switch to run the strobes.

No essentially I am changing the 7 pin from key on to constant power. Meaning my interior lights in the trailer will always work and I can wire a switch that comes on when my ramp door is OPEN only. So when I turn the truck off there is no drain. Until I open the ramp door. We're talking two small LED strobes The draw is next to nothing.

You can do this without rewiring anything. All you need to do is remove trailer battery charge relay and jump pins 30 and 87. Done. My truck was like that for 2 years, installed the jumper the day I drove it home new. Sold that trailer and now have the relay back in. Don't let anyone tell you it's a bad idea because Ford is the only brand that switches the trailer charge wire.
No pics. Don't know if the fuse box on a 13 and 08 would be the same anyway. If you can run a new fused wire you can locate and jump out a relay. The pinout should be labeled in its base.
