I chose 23000 lbs based on what I estimated the truck, trailer, and tractor with loader and one of my attachments would weigh. I think I came out really close. I do think I'll be over the 23000 lbs if I have the backhoe attached.

My camper can gross out at over 16K pounds loaded to the gills. Add the weight of the truck and I'm at 24.5K just guessing.

In Maine, I don't need to register the truck for any special weight if I'm hauling and RV. I can haul and RV to the max limit of the truck just on a normal registration, but if I have a gooseneck it has to be on commercial plates and the truck needs to be registered for the weight you haul up to 26,000 lbs. anything over 26,000 and you need a CDL.
