Cab corners from Taiwan (by way of NC)
So I needed some cab corners....I did a bit of research and the two names that came up for the best quality were Tabco and Dennis Carpenter. I started with Tabco and ordered a pair online ($19.75 ea) but they didn't ship. They said they were out of the quality panels that they make. They did have the imports in stock but(and this is key), they would not ship them before checking with me first because of the lower quality. Fair enough, I said no thanks and went on my merry way.
Next stop, Dennis Carpenter. Cab corners there are 30 bucks. Ok, more money but DC has a great reputation. Well what I got was one very nice cab corner and one piece of wrinkled tin foil from Taiwan. Hmmm. What happened here???
I called DC and of course they will take it back but they absolutely will not pay shipping. This does me no good because of the cost to ship a large box back to North Carolina makes it pointless. And while they were not nice about it at all, I did get a free lecture on global economics and the necessity of outsourcing...Yay thanks.
So here is how this works . DC makes it sound like they sell all quality parts. There's lot of talk about "original dies and molds". But unless is specifically says "made in USA" on each and every part you click on, they will send you the import junk everyone else has and charge you three times the price! Oh, and act really surprised when you complain. So buyer beware.
FYI #1 you can get the same cab corner DC sells at Rockauto for $10.57
The part numbers are 57355L and 57355R
https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...cab+corner,850
Or summit racing for $19.00
FYI #2 Tabco was cool and honest. Dude said they will be doing another run of cab corners in a month or two. https://tabcoparts.com
Wrinkles add character!
Lightened for racing applications!
The good one.
The good one.
Part number 573-55L or 57355L available anywhere for less!
