Hey yall, im new to this forum, but i need a little help. Hopefully yall can help cause nobody seems to have a clue. I have a 1999 expedition 5.4L and the power steering is leaking dramatically bad. I had a buddy turn the wheel while i was under the pump and seen it leaking(pouring) from what i would beleive to be the power steering pressure switch. Its right on the pump, and i can see its a plug in type of switch because i unplugged it and plugged it back up. The parts store say you cant buy just that one peice. Is there a way to fix this leak without buying the whole pump. People have told me its just an o'ring that seals it but no one is sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ill post pics if you need a visual. Ps: i thoroughly checked all around the pump and it is fine. Has anyone ever experienced this?!
If you dont want to spring for a whole new unit you could call the local auto wreckers in your area to see if they have a used one and either use that as a replacement or scavenge the parts you need for your off it or look on Craigslist for a vehicle similar to your that someone may be parting out and try and get one that way.
That's not a switch, that's the EVO actuator (solenoid).
If you can't find one in a junk yard, your best bet is to buy a remanufactured pump that includes the solenoid (which costs $395 at your Ford dealer).
so that plug im seeing on the pump itself is a evo actuator solenoid? Well, couldnt i screw it off and replace the seal? If it has one. Im not entirely familiar with the 5.4l
