Recall...2013 Escape..
I received a safety campaign letter from ford about. They can come unlatched under certain situations but mine never have. Local service manager has my new parts but we can not find compatible times to change them out. Can take up to half a day. Ford is giving dealers only a couple of parts kits at a time.
Had it done on my 2014 about 6 months ago. It is a massive job. Under warranty. Can't tell any difference between old and new hinges. I'd get it done for piece of mind. No money off your back on that one. Investigate if you are entitled to a loaner due to the safety recall aspect. Should get one. I did not need one.
Have to give credit where credit is due. Wife and daughter in Troy, Mi. to visit. ABS light and a couple others popped up. My sis-in-law called Elder Ford, and explained situation. They said "come on down". The diagnosed it..(sensor on front axle), and said the could have one there in a couple hours..and..while we wait, we'll do the latch recall...The told her cost up front, and deducted the diagnostic fee from the bill...In and out..fixed..good price.. Can't ask for more...jv..
RE:recall
I had mine done at the dealer back in june it took him about 1.5 hrs. They told me to expect 4 hrs. But the mechanic had gotten good at them. He said the first one had taken him most of the day. mine was the 4th one he had done(the mechanic) in as many days.
