The wife and I took a trip to Cape Cod last week. We weren't towing or hauling anything except luggage and azz whenever traffic allowed. This is my second long trip unencumbered and I must say that at 22k on the odometer the thing is amazing. I have an F-250 with the 6.7 & Lariat ultimate, FX4, 6.5' bed, 20" wheels LED's & other goodies. My mileage on this trip was better (about 1-1.5 mpg) than the last trip we took to the Cincinnati area a couple of months (and about 6k miles) ago. I averaged over 18 mpg on every tank (computer) and a little over 20 on a couple of tanks. This is pretty remarkable for a large truck driven at 80 mph whenever possible. That coupled with the typical interstate rubber band traffic (80 mph congo line for a while then everyone slams on the brakes for a few miles and then off to the races again). The truck is very quiet and comfortable and the climate control does a great job keeping the cabin comfortable. My one and only modification, a Roll-n-Lock cover, kept the contents of the bed nice and dry. My only complaint is the damned thing darts of to one side or another when you hit a pothole, which there are plenty of in Pa. and NY. This can be pretty hairy when you aren't prepared for it. I wonder if there's a damper or something t alleviate this condition. Anyone?
On another note, I saw plenty of other folks in their SD's coming and going pulling their campers and such. Had to wonder how many of those folks are forum members. Some of the rigs looked like pictures I've seen posted on here. Next trip will be in September back to northern Indiana pulling a gooseneck (4.5k) with my CNC machine (about 4k) to have it upgraded. Thanks for all the good info on here. It's good to see all of the positive comments and very few folks having problems or dislikes about their trucks.
That's a nice area on Cape Cod...I've been up there twice years ago to Otis AFB when I was in the Air Guard. Traffic was bad even back then in the early 70's so I can imagine what its like now. Glad your truck ran great and you got back in one piece!!

It was very nice. We stayed in Sandwich, Ma. at a B&B. One huge benefit was the reprieve from the Florida heat and humidity. It was in the 60's for most of the time we were there. Back to reality now, though. We'll be in your neck of the woods in Sept for the reds.
OP
you might want to look into a single or dual steering stabilizer setup. There are a couple of threads on them. It should help but I don't think it will COMPLETELY solve your problem as this is a heavy truck with a solid front axle. Maybe someone will chime in that has one fitted on a 2017.
Born in Hyannis, raised in Harwich. Summers are short on the Cape no doubt, sweatshirts are usually a must at night especially if the wind kicks up which is almost always. Sandwich isn't very far onto the Cape, did you venture down to the mid or lower Cape any?

I was in Grand Isle today...they just finished Saturday with the tarpon rodeo. Lucky because today the wind was 30 mph with 5 ft seas. Low humidity today so 90 degrees felt pleasant. Went to Lafitte Saturday but didn't fish...took the wife for lunch. September ought to be busy with football...camping and doing some fishing! Glad you and the family had a good time on the Cape.
Took these at Grand Isle State Park this morning...Gulf of Mexico at Barataria Pass.

Glad the truck performed well for you.
We always made it to Falmouth when I was at Otis AFB in the early 70's. Nice area up there!

Let some air out of the rear tires when you're running light. You can probably drop them quite a bit, experiment a little. If your TPMS screams at you, Forscan will fix it.

We did. All the way to (gasp!) P-town. Had to catch a boat for the whale watching. Saw plenty of them too. Unfortunately we saw plenty there that can't be unseen. Went to Nantucket but missed the Whaling Museum. Will have to go back for that. Beautiful place.

My wife's family is from cocodrie, chauvin, and Houma. My father in law grew up down there and we always took a couple fishing trips, mostly for specks. I've got some great memories down there and we visit family down there whenever we can. I know reds are awesome but chasing the schools of specks is pretty dang fun.

One of my son in laws is from Chauvin and pretty much grew up on his dads shrimp trawler. He's thinking about going into the guide business one day. This is the boat they fish offshore in. 28' Kevlacat.

Hey Paw, those cats seem to be popular over there. I've never been on one but I hear the ride is awesome. My son and nephew fished the king fish tournament over here a couple of weeks ago and he saw a 34' Freeman up close. Hasn't stopped talking (lusting) about it since. I'm glad I'm out of the boat buying stage.

They bought this cat about 5 yrs ago and its been a great boat...they had to get a new powerhead on one engine a few weeks ago but other then that no problems. It was just polished out and waiting for some new graphics on the sides. They use it all the time in the spring and summer.

P-town isn't that bad in the day but get out before 10pm unless you have a good therapist. They have a polar bear plunge at 3pm on New Years Day from the Old Colony Tap on Commercial St that's a great way to kill the hangover. To beat Cape bridge traffic, I would take the high speed ferry from Boston's Rowes Wharf to P-town. My family would pick me up there and we'd leave but not before some Spiritus Pizza, Portuguese bread and a few drinks.

Last time I went to the Cape I went all the way to Race Point - I think that's the very end of the land. I agree Provincetown was pretty unsettling...especially since at the time I had no idea what that town was about, lol. Here's the beach at Race Point when I took this pic close to 10 years ago:
