Hi all,
I am new here. I am swapping a 351w out for a 351m in a 1984 F250 4x4. I know that the existing c6 bellhousing will not work. Anyone have a spare c6 case for a 351m for sale? Are there any other differences when changing cases?
Thanks in advance to all,
Tom
find a 79 and up truck with a 460 backed by a c 6, the bolt patterns are the same. you'll have better luck finding it in a 80-up truck either f250 or f350 they came with a c6 til early 90's if i remember right.
I also have a 360 FE engine with a 4 speed 4x4...what years and models have the c6 in which I can mate it to? Will the tailshaft and transfer case from the FE 4 speed bolt up to a c6?
Thanks to all in advance,
Tom
You can Pull the C6 from a 77-up on 351/400M 77 was the first year of that motor. 79 was the first year for the 460 in a truck they was auto's. So pretty much you can take from 77 to early 80's from the 351/400M trucks. or you could find from 79 up Til they went with OD trannys on the 460. The only diffirence you'll find in the 77 to 79 trucks is the T/case. They had either a NP 203 or NP205. but they'll mater in your truck or you can mate your T/case to them.
As for finding a C-6 for your truck with the 360 You should be able to find them all thru out the 70's. FE blocks where the main motor til the 351/400M's came out. I really only find the 351/400M in the 77 to 79 1/2ton and 78/79 Bronco's. F250 and 350's til 79 I find more of the FE blocks.
First year for the 460 in pickups was 73, though for practical purposes 74 was the first year. Vans got the 460 in 75 with the "new" body style that year. Last year for the 460 in cars was 78. When the 460 went truck only in 79, it was modified slightly. Also, there are no 80 to 82 pickups with the 460.
The FE was last used in 76. To find a C6 for an FE, you'll have to look behind another FE. If you want a 4x4 FE C6, that's what you'll have to look in.
