When I had my Doug Thorleys installed 9 out of 10 broke, dudes were a ricer race shop and they were able to do it. Luckily I brought a pack of stainless studs with me from Amazon

While they are off, would it be cheap insurance to do the injectors with the plugs now or is that a waste of money if the truck is running fine?
Well... I'm a bit embarrassed to admit how much this repair has run me. But lets just say I'm well past my original budget with parts and labor, and having to rebuild one of my original heads since the new one had a tight spot in one of the arches that holds the cam shaft.
But I'll feel a little better driving to Colorado in December with new heads, arp bolts, headers, water pump, plugs, fresh oil and brake fluids, and some pricey gaskets.
I had several break when installing my headers. I used my 220V MIG with flux core wire and gas shield removed from the end of the gun. Worked great. Had one that was being a pain, kept breaking the nut off so I cranked up the amps a bit and zapped it again. It was a nerve wracking ordeal, welding inside an aluminum hole, but didn't have any issues.
the 5 star tunes was a huge improvement for my truck.
have you had any of your spark plugs blow out of the heads?
I've had a slight tick coming from the passenger side wheel well since installing my headers. I went crazy trying to find it and started re-tightening up all the header bolts hoping to stop the leak. after using every 10mm wrench, long and short, open and closed along with a wobble socket I had everything tight but it still ticked.
I think it may have something to do with the #7 plug that rocketed out of the head years ago. maybe the nutsert gives off a different harmonic. I really don't know.

havent blown a plug yet
I've heard a slight tick as well. This motor seems to get pretty warm, warmer than my other v10 did under the hood but no problem on the gauges. Tick and the heat is what led me to do the exhaust, thinking i had a leak. But even after the headers and free flowing exhaust this thing is still pretty hot after short drives, havent listened for the ticking noise though. I'll check it when i get back in town.

i think the headers just put off a lot more heat than the cast iron manifolds. I installed a bunch of extra heat shielding for everything close to the headers just to be safe. I think my OCD got the best of me because t better to be safe than sorry. Or stuck somewhere because something melted
With the cheapo eBay headers I installed first, and then the Hedmans, I did a lot of low-speed pulling and idling on very hot summer days (90+) pulling hedges out of a friend's yard (took about 5 hours total) and then pulling complete trees through the woods in Upstate NY helping my BIL clear some of his land.
Nothing melted.
However, I didn't notice a huge increase in heat under the hood with either set of headers. Which is why I mentioned to check the fan clutch.
