2000 EB Expy - PATS Key Programming
Since my Expy only had one key when I purchased it, I bought a couple PATS keys on eBay, and had them cut. Everything that I've read says I need two original keys to program the new ones, but I only have one... I understand that the dealership can do it, but I'd rather not pay them if I don't have to...
My question is this: the procedure calls for the original key to be put into the ignition, turned to the ON position, then removed. Immediately following that, the second original key is used to repeat the procedure. If the two original keys are identical, how does the Expy know that I only have one? Is there really different information stored on the chip that requires me to go to a dealership?
