update on the 300
well unplugging the EGR and plugging the vacuum line have solved the stumble. It seems to have a bit more power also, but thats probably because it doesn't cough at its tq peak
It still struggles to idle straight. I'm not sure if that's ignition or fuel, i'll get a guage and check out the fuel pressure sometime soon.
My plans for this engine are now different. I'm going to run her as long as she will, which should be a while. In the meantime i'm putting away every cent i get and i'm saving up to build either a 351w, or bigger. The v8 bug bit me hard at a local hot rod get together.
I'm going to save enough money to order a short block of some sort. Since the tranny is going to have to go anyways (mazda 5) I guess the 351w is really 'convenient' any more. I would like something with more cubes.
I'm actually suprised that the EGR was the culprit here. I've read many posts about the EGR causing this problem, but for some reason i doubted it. I did try unplugging it before, but i did not drive it, and unplugging it does not solve the idling situation. It hasn't stalled and i doubt it will ever while idling, but it does stuble quite a bit, and its pretty easy to tell that the truck is on while standing a few feet away. The stick wobbles like crazy too.
Thanks for the help you guys have given me on the rough running.
