I had two reasons for this really.
  1. I needed an output shaft oil seal (and the one I bought truck specific didn't look to match)
  2. I wanted to be sure of the ID of the trans so I can make sure it is going to survive in the truck

And in future if I need parts, it would be good to know which 'vehicle specific' catalogue to look through!

I have ordered SKF 14978 Oil seal, which claims to be a replacement for C1AP7052A, C2AP7052A, C2AZ7052A, C2OP7052A, C2OP7052B, D1AP7052BA, D5AP7052A, D5AP7052AA, D5AZ7052B, D6AP7052AA, D6AP7052BA, D6ZR7052AA, D9BZ7052A, E2DZ7052A

And was listed against the '71 Maverick 200 I6 - as being suitable for the RAN trans.

The numbers in dark blue are ID engineering numbers, the numbers in light blue are Ford part numbers.

Of all these numbers, only two are related to the 3.03 3 speed, the others are either Warner T-18/98 4 speed (truck) or car 4 speed top loader or A/T related.

The only seal that is RAN only is for 1967 E100 170/240 I-6 (that I didn't list). Otherwise the two possible seals are the same HEE/HEF/RAN/RAT

One seal was also used with the Warner T-86 3 speed (non syncro 1st gear).

I'm skeptical that this one seal replaces all of the above due to the different dimensions. Plus, there's no related ID or part number listed for the following:

A2TZ-7052-A .. Extension Housing Seal - 2 3/8" O.D. x 1 1/2" I.D. x 5/8" wide / Obsolete

1949/62 Ford/Merc Passenger Cars T-86; 1963/70 Ford/Merc Passenger Cars 3.03; 1971 Ford/Merc Passenger Cars 3.03 before production date 7/1/1971.

1957/62 F100/250 T-86; 1963 F100/250 3.03.
----------------------------------------------------
D9BZ-7052-A (replaced C4TZ-7052-A) .. 3.03 3 Speed M/T Extension Housing Seal / Some D9BZ-7052-A marked D6AP-7052-AA / Available from Ford

D9BZ-7052-A/C4TZ-7052-A: 2 3/8" O.D. x 1 1/2" I.D. x 1/2" wide

1971 Ford/Merc Passenger Cars from production date 7/1/1971; 1972/79 Ford/Merc Passenger Cars; 1980 Granada.

1964/83 F100; 1964/86 F250; 1969/74 E100/300; 1975/86 F150; 1975/87 E100/250.

This seal was also used in 1965/83 trucks with New Process 435 4 speed.

Cheers for all that info!

Looks like I might not be having too much luck with these 'vehicle specific' searches on parts sites.

I imagine it would be a lot easier if I could go down to a well stocked parts store! (with knowledgeable staff)

So I currently have:

Which was listed as for a '66 F100 3 speed on NPDlink.
https://www.npdlink.com/store/produc...-105624-0.html

But I ordered that over a year ago now, and it might not be what I was trying to buy anyway!

It does claim to be AS ORIGINAL, A2TZ-7052-A, C4TZ-7052-A, D9BZ-7052-A, E2DZ-7052-A

Which covers: A2TZ-7052-A

The one in the trans doesn't look like it has the rubber extension boot though and looks a little smaller in diameter.

And the one I mentioned above which is on it's way: (which doesn't have the big rubber extension.

D9BZ-7052-A has the rubber extension, C4TZ-7052-A does not.

People that own vehicles that originally (before 1979) used the C4TZ-7052-A seal look at the extension, assume the seal is incorrect, but it fits just fine.

D9BZ-7052-A & C4TZ-7052-A specs are the same. A2TZ-7052-A is the same, except for the width, which is 5/8" wide.
